Where Heritage Meets Momentum: The New Era of Luxe Home Interiors

Anchored by the weight of history and the lightness of modern design, Luxe Home Interiors occupies a unique space in Victoria’s cultural landscape. From the exposed brick of their 160-year-old showroom on Yates Street to the curated floor of the Brand Royalty Expo, the brand has spent twenty-five years prioritizing connection over simple transaction. Today, however, marks a distinct evolution. No longer a singular vision, Luxe has transformed into a dynamic triad, blending a quarter-century of expertise with a fresh, kinetic energy that is redefining what it means to live with style in 2026.

Real luxury is personality. It isn’t about everything being color coordinated; it’s about the tension between the history of your life and the comfort of the new.

The Dynamic Trio

Navigating the design world requires a diverse set of strengths, and Elaine Balkwill credits the brand’s current momentum to the additive power of her partnership with Janine and Felipe. She describes the new ownership structure as a balance of forces where each partner contributes a vital, distinct energy.

Felipe drives the creative momentum, bringing an enthusiastic, high-energy focus on the “new” and constantly sourcing fresh designs that push the brand forward. Janine acts as the “grounder,” managing the operational backbone to ensure the business moves with stability. This structure allows Balkwill to focus entirely on her area of mastery: the relationships, the face of the brand, and the “voice” that connects with Victoria’s community. The result is a leadership team that honors its legacy while aggressively pursuing innovation.

The Eclectic House

Luxe defines its showroom through character and “eclectic personality,” rejecting the sterile, catalog-matched aesthetic often found in high-end retail. Balkwill champions a design philosophy where textures, eras, and origins blend to tell a specific story—the client’s story.

“Don’t throw away your grandmother’s heirlooms just because you’re buying a new sofa,” Balkwill advises. She views the tension between the old and the new as the source of true style. The showroom itself, housed in a heritage building with 160-year-old brick walls, serves as the perfect canvas for this philosophy. The history of the architecture supports the comfort of the contemporary furniture, proving that great design spans generations and that a home should reflect the life lived within it.

We didn’t want to just show furniture; we wanted to create a place where people could just sit, have a drink, and breathe.

The Social Sanctuary

At the recent Brand Royalty Expo, Luxe demonstrated how furniture facilitates connection. Positioned next to Clive’s Classic Lounge, the team designed a space that functioned less like a booth and more like a sanctuary.

In a high-energy event environment, offering a moment of physical comfort becomes a valuable service. By creating a functional “living room” on the expo floor, Luxe allowed attendees to experience the furniture exactly as intended: as a vessel for conversation and relaxation. The space became a social hub, seamlessly blending the vibrant energy of a cocktail party with the restorative calm of a private retreat.

Community & Craft: The Adriftwood Connection

The appreciation for “soul” in design extends beyond furniture for the Luxe team. When asked to curate a fantasy coffee table using a piece from a local artisan, Balkwill immediately highlighted Jake at Adriftwood Co.

Balkwill describes Jake—who runs the company alongside his father—as a young maker with an “old soul.” She was drawn to him not just for his driftwood sculptures and custom furniture, but for his deeply empathetic process. “He wants people to feel it,” Balkwill explains, recounting how he built a bedroom set for a client by first understanding who she was as a person, rather than just asking for dimensions. It aligns perfectly with the Luxe value of appreciating the maker’s hand and the client’s story in every object.

Expansion with Intention

Looking toward 2026, the team operates under the mantra of “Expansion with Intention.”

Growth for Luxe means deepening the quality of their service and the specificity of their collections. The team is focused on introducing new lines that support their eclectic direction while cementing their role as problem-solvers for their clients’ homes. The future of Luxe is dedicated to building on a 25-year legacy, ensuring that every new step adds value to the Victoria design community.
